Please note, I am currently taking a break from clinical practice.
My story
I love healthy food which tastes amazing. I feel inspired to share my knowledge of home cooking, health and nutrition with you, and that’s why I became a naturopath.
But I wasn’t always into health. In fact, I had a very conventional upbringing in suburban Hampshire, UK, with very little awareness about where food comes from, or how it impacts health. I didn’t know what wholefoods were, and certainly had no idea how to cook with them.
That was until my early twenties when I started working with someone who was a vegetarian. I would curiously quiz her about her lunch ingredients, as I didn’t recognise her lentils and sunflower seeds. Through my interest in yoga, I also met a nutritionist who amazed me with her knowledge about the healing power of food.
I became motivated to learn more about what I was putting into my mouth each day and was shocked about the ingredients in packaged food. From there, I also became aware about how my food choices were affecting my health.
Fast forward a decade and half way round the world, I was persevering with my career in communications. Yet, even though I worked with some incredible people in very worthwhile organisations, I felt this gap, this yearning, to do something more.
I wanted to inspire people to improve their health through food and nutrition, the way others had inspired me years before. So I embarked on my Bachelor of Health Science in Naturopathy at Southern School of Natural Therapies and have not looked back since.
My qualifications
I hold a Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) from Southern School of Natural Therapies.
This is a rigorous, four year science degree which teaches a comprehensive understanding of anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathophysiology, pharmacology, herbal and nutritional medicine.
I am a full member of Naturopaths & Herbalists Association of Australia (NHAA).
What is naturopathy?
Naturopathy is a type of complementary health care, which incorporates nutritional and herbal medicine, lifestyle and dietary advice, to help you find or rediscover your unique health balance. I work as your personal health detective to bring together all aspects of your medical picture to understand the underlying cause of your symptoms. I then make recommendations to reduce symptoms and get you feeling better, while addressing the cause so you can enjoy long term relief.
What I can help with
As a naturopath, I’m trained to assist people with a wide range of health conditions. The holistic approach means I don’t always directly treat your condition or diagnosis, I look at your whole picture of health and recommend strategies which give your body the resources it needs to regain its balance naturally.
